Red Kuri is a delicious winter squash with a brilliant orange color. Its high yields and reasonable 3-5 lb. size makes it an ideal choice for both small households and market sales. Red Kuri stores exceptionally well and holds impressively in the field, even after weeks of ripeness and exposure to fall rains on muddy ground. Bred in Japan from a Hubbard parent, this "Baby Hubbard" or "Orange Hokkaido" squash is named for the Japanese word Kuri, meaning chestnut, a nod to its sweet, nutty flavor. Versatile in the kitchen, Red Kuri is excellent for soups, stews, stir-fries, and even baked goods. Packed with vitamins C and A.
