Lauren's Grape

If you’re like me, you want to grow every poppy out there, and Lauren’s Grape is one fine poppy to choose. If you do, my unsolicited advice is to grow as many as you can, as seeing these en masse is so striking! It is rare to find such a rich plum or matte grape color in a flower, and this somniferum type poppy is irreplaceable for that reason alone. It boasts huge 4- to 5-inch blooms and lovely gray/green foliage. In some climates, it can be overwintered, making for an even more impressive show the following spring. It’s easy to grow: simply direct sow, thin the seedlings, and watch it flourish. It readily self-sows but is easy to remove if wanted. Lauren’s Grape is a Summertime Seed favorite!
