This tall, colorful, quick-growing Lacinato kale, also known as dinosaur kale, was bred by Hank Keogh right here in Oregon (in collaboration with Wild Garden Seed). Its thick, crinkled leaves with a range of purple colored stems make it both visually striking and incredibly versatile in the kitchen. More cold-hardy than many other varieties, it’s a reliable choice for extended harvests throughout cooler months.
If you haven’t tried it yet, look up a recipe for a massaged kale salad—this kale’s tender, flavorful leaves shine when prepared this way. Its combination of beauty, hardiness, and culinary appeal makes it a standout in any field or garden.
