This basil attracts more pollinators than most plants I’ve ever grown. It’s another herb that causes me to stop in my tracks at the farm for a few minutes so I can watch all the activity. It maintains a compact, bushy stature that is visually appealing and the aroma in the air and between your fingers is wonderful and calming. Its uses are numerous, from being a pollinator magnet to providing leaves for medicinal teas that are being studied for their effects on blood pressure, cholesterol, anxiety, and inflammation. Long used in Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine. A reseeding plant, though easy to manage if you want to limit its spread. Not to be confused with Ocimum basilicum—this is Ocimum africanum.
