Aptly named! This unique flower begins its journey upright and quickly arches and cascades into a rope of flowers eventually as long as the stems. (3-5 ft.) The color is brighter than other maroon Amaranth and of course it reminds anyone of deadlocks! Belongs in any childrens garden but easily becomes an elegant statement piece in a vase. Use these flowers young when the flower head is shorter or let it mature and use in a larger statement piece or flower installation. An heirloom originating in Mexico. Like all Amaranths, Dreadlocks thrives in the hottest part of summer so planting with Dahlias, Zinnias or Sunflowers is a nice idea.
