One of my favorite flowers! With its soft grey stems and vivid blooms, Agrostemma will grab your attention from the moment it begins to bloom. I think it’s cool how the fuchsia color is both electrifying and soft simultaneously. It moves so gracefully in the wind.
Originating in Europe, its name is derived from the Greek words *agro* (field) and *stemma* (crown or garland). It attracts bees and other beneficial insects. Drought-tolerant and generally pest and disease-free, it's an easy-care addition to any garden. Though it's known as a great early-season cut flower, I’ve had it bloom into mid-summer as well. Whether planted thickly as a focal point or as part of a mixed border, this plant is captivating. Can be overwintered.
Please note: Parts of this plant are poisonous.
